Re: Importing a LAS file into Autocad Cheers, the workflow seems fairly simple with recap and the Autocad functions are greatly improved with a recap native file. The most common symbology for LAS datasets can be accessed quickly from the LAS Dataset toolbar. The LAS dataset does not import point data contained in the LAS files; it simply stores reference to these LAS files and surface constraints. They are constructed very quickly, as only the header information for each LAS file needs to be accessed. Export and Import Saved Layer States (.NET) You can export and import saved layer states to use the same layer settings in other drawings. Use the ExportLayerState method to export a saved layer state to an LAS file; use the ImportLayerState method to import a LAS file into a drawing. Click the + Select Files to Import button. Select all the LAS/LAZ files applicable to the project, click OK. Click the Import Files button in the lower right. Wait while Recap imports the files into the project (thick rings are yet to be done, thin ones are finished). Click the Index Scans button in the lower right.

Create PTS file with laser scanning software or ReCap, run PTSIMPORT in AutoCAD. The resulting DWG may be imported into Revit's Family editor. (Revit's Family editor does not allow linking of point clouds but does allow importing of DWGs, hence this app is an effective workaround for seeing scans in the context of Revit Families.)

The installer that ran when you downloaded this app/plug-in from Autodesk App Store will start installing the app/plug-in. OR, simply double-click the downloaded installer to install the app/plugin. You may need to restart the Autodesk product to activate the app/plug-in. To uninstall this plug-in, exit the Autodesk product if you are currently running it, simply rerun the installer, and select the 'Uninstall' button. OR, click Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features (Windows 7/8/8.1/10) and uninstall as you would any other application from your system.
